Agreements and Terms of Service

Please read our collaborative learning

& course container agreements thoroughly.

These agreements are designed to support a harmonious and inclusive learning community. The co-creation of our somatic community requires trust, participation, active listening and compassionate support for each other, so take time to consider and reflect on each of the agreements.

Questions & requests are included which may illuminate your specific needs within the community while encouraging you to remember the ways that you can resource and support yourself over the duration of the training.

Somatic learning doesn’t happen alone as we are interconnected beings! As the trees and living creatures in a forest collaborate to create a thriving ecosystem, supporting others in your community also supports your own growth.

“NOTICE, ALLOW and INTEND” - Deej Juventin

co-creating our relationship agreements together

  • Co-creating community relationship agreements

Being part of a community involves representing our needs and acknowledging the needs of others.

This training is an exploration into the ethics of self-care and duty of care with another and our ability to co-create relationship agreements that can honour and care for aspects of ourselves as we learn our limits and with others as they are learning theirs.

  • Updating our relationship agreements

Embodiment involves enhancing the granularity of language and touch informed by our felt senses that support co-creating ethical professional boundary relationship agreements. This is how we care for the aspects of ourselves and others that need acknowledging. These are different for each of us and when tested show us our limits. This is often how we discover our limits in relation to our self-acceptance with unacknowledged needs.

Course container agreements

Exploring Relational Embodiment is a journey of self-inquiry and self-discovery and it is natural to experience at times uncomfortable moments as you update versions of yourself while encountering your learning edges.

It is our goal to create a learning environment that is inclusive and supports your participation in learning and exploring. We acknowledge the different walks of life we have all come from and how our past experiences influence our relationships and participation in groups.

We create our ground course container agreements to support everyone's participation, inviting curiosity when aspects, that are unique to each training, arise that may not have been included in our general course container agreements. We work from the understanding that relationship agreements are an ongoing process that requires updating to support each other’s harmonious participation.

The following are the course container agreements that we will all honour and respect during this training:

  1. Confidentiality — We ask that you agree not to identify individuals, their words or their experiences on the course and not to make any recordings or take photos of people without their permission. You may share the facilitator's teachings outside of the group.

  2. During our time together, when sharing, we encourage you to share from your personal experiences eg. I feel, I notice, I’m experiencing, etc.). This helps each of us to compassionately receive each other rather than generalising.

  3. Feelings are welcome and do not need to be justified or explained; honour the feelings that arise in others by allowing them to feel without fixing or advising.

  4. Be willing to stay open and free of assumptions about people's identities and experiences (eg. regarding gender, race, sexual orientation, etc). We ask that you honour the lived experience of each other in the group and use the names and pronouns people request.

  5. During this practitioner training you will be expected to work outside of attraction and to not engage in erotic sexual relationships with other students in the group. Arousal happens and you are invited to simply notice it and practice response flexibility. Arousal is not to be cultivated or acted upon in the practitioner role.

  6. As practitioners in training you will be expected to work outside of aversion within the wheel of consent relationship agreements (being in service within our range of optimum generosity while practising setting limits). This supports us to maintain our professional role and expands our capacity to work with a larger range of people, and we still get to have limits.

  7. We are showing up here together as practitioners honouring the ACSB Code of Ethics. Please see the ACSB Code of Ethics to familiarise yourself with our duty of care. https://sexologicalbodyworkers.org

  8. Use of drugs or alcohol before or during any online or in-person session is not permitted.

  9. Practice self-awareness around ways you participate — if it’s easy for you to step in and share, maybe pause and wait a moment; if you find it challenging to join in, practice having the courage to share.

  10. Impact and intention mismatch - at times our words and actions may impact others in ways which we may not intend. When another feels impacted by our words or actions we agree to engage in the repair processes taught on this training with compassion and humility.

  11. Dual Roles. Some of us here might have different relationships with each other in other contexts, current or historical. Please share any dual roles that may influence our community here (whilst honouring privately agreed confidentiality).

  12. We regard the client's role as sacred ground for all aspects of the self to have permission to express and participate in and not to be evaluated. During this training, these experiences are confidential to the group of three that you shared in and it is your choice what you share with the group.

  13. Integration time. We encourage you to honour the roles, and responsibilities of each role, during class time and to maintain the time boundaries of these and not pursue the continuation of these roles during the breaks. This honours the breaks as integration time

  14. Olfactory community health. Please be mindful of your personal hygiene and use of perfumed toiletries and detergents as we are not in choice with what we are breathing in.  We use aromatic leaves like sage, sweet grass and essential oils eg Lavender and sweet orange for cleansing the air at times. Please share any sensitivities with any of these privately with a member of the team.

  15. We ask that you arrive a few minutes before the start of each session or inform a member of the teacher team if you are unable to attend.

  16. Bring an attitude of curiosity, kindness and radical acceptance. As adult learners, we are inhibited from learning new ways of being if we already “know”

  17. We can participate in many ways - This might look like inhabiting the invited roles, taking the role of witnessing, requesting and negotiating ways of adapting the activity to support your participation or simply being present in the space.

  18. Self-care and nervous system regulation — During our time together, please take care of your needs for sleep, rest, nourishment, and during class time, your needs for hydration & toilet, etc. If there is something specific you need please reach out to any of the teacher team.

  19. We invite you to practise attunement and kindness with yourself as you encounter your learning edges and limits. Sometimes we don’t know our limits until we are experiencing them and it can feel vulnerable to reach out. If you discover yourself experiencing overwhelm, feel into what you might need and give yourself permission to self-regulate in a way that supports you. If you need support, please reach out and remember the teaching team is here to support you.

  20. We invite agreement here that communication between each other is inclusive and kind.

If the teacher team is advised that a participant has not respected any of these agreements we will take action and discuss this with that participant.

If a participant continues to act outside of these agreements and is unwilling or unable to respect the course container then they will be required to leave the training and will not be offered any refund.

Co-creating our community together requires participation, contributing, being present with and supporting each other.

Somatic learning doesn’t happen by ourselves because our nervous systems are interconnected. So supporting each other supports our own growth and learning like the trees and mycelium networks support each other as part of a forest.

At the end of this training we encourage you to allow any tender new aspects of yourself to continue to be nurtured, nourished and supported. Honour your reflection and integration time until you feel ready to share with others, rather than satisfying other people’s curiosity.
