The Relational Harmony Institute

Terms of Service - Code of Ethics - Course container agreements

We are dedicated to creating, maintaining, and updating standards of ethical practice, supporting practitioners in realising their creative potential.

Please read our collaborative learning

& course container agreements thoroughly.

These agreements are designed to support a harmonious and inclusive learning community. The co-creation of our somatic community requires trust, participation, active listening and compassionate support for each other, so take time to consider and reflect on each of the agreements.

Questions & requests are included, which may illuminate your specific needs within the community while encouraging you to remember the ways that you can resource and support yourself over the duration of the training.

Somatic learning doesn’t happen alone as we are interconnected beings! As the trees and living creatures in a forest collaborate to create a thriving ecosystem, supporting others in your community also supports your own growth.

co-creating our relationship agreements together

  • Co-creating community relationship agreements

Being part of a community involves representing our needs and acknowledging the needs of others.

This training is an exploration into the ethics of self-care and duty of care with another and our ability to co-create relationship agreements that can honour and care for aspects of ourselves as we learn our limits and with others as they are learning theirs.

  • Updating our relationship agreements

Embodiment involves enhancing the granularity of language and touch informed by our felt senses that support co-creating ethical professional boundary relationship agreements. This is how we care for the aspects of ourselves and others that need acknowledging. These are different for each of us and when tested show us our limits. This is often how we discover our limits in relation to our self-acceptance with unacknowledged needs.

Course container agreements

Exploring Relational Embodiment is a journey of self-inquiry and self-discovery, and it is natural to experience uncomfortable moments at times as you update versions of yourself while encountering your learning edges.

It is our goal to create a learning environment that is inclusive and supports your participation in learning and exploring. We acknowledge the different walks of life we have all come from and how our past experiences influence our relationships and participation in groups.

We create our ground course container agreements to support everyone's participation, inviting curiosity when aspects that are unique to each training arise that may not have been included in our general course container agreements. We work from the understanding that relationship agreements are an ongoing process that requires updating to support each other’s harmonious participation.

The following are the course container agreements that we will all honour and respect during this training:

  1. Confidentiality — We ask that you agree not to identify individuals, their words or their experiences on the course and not to make any recordings or take photos of people without their permission. You may share the facilitator's teachings outside of the group.

  2. During our time together, when sharing, we encourage you to share from your personal experiences eg. I feel, I notice, I’m experiencing, etc.). This helps each of us to compassionately receive each other rather than generalising.

  3. Feelings are welcome and do not need to be justified or explained; honour the feelings that arise in others by allowing them to feel without fixing or advising.

  4. Be willing to stay open and free of assumptions about people's identities and experiences (eg. regarding gender, race, sexual orientation, etc). We ask that you honour the lived experience of each other in the group and use the names and pronouns people request.

  5. During this practitioner training you will be expected to work outside of attraction and to not engage in erotic sexual relationships with other students in the group. Arousal happens and you are invited to simply notice it and practice response flexibility. Arousal is not to be cultivated or acted upon in the practitioner role.

  6. As practitioners in training you will be expected to work outside of aversion within the wheel of consent relationship agreements (being in service within our range of optimum generosity while practising setting limits). This supports us to maintain our professional role and expands our capacity to work with a larger range of people, and we still get to have limits.

  7. We are showing up here together as practitioners honouring the SSEAA Code of Ethics. Please see the SSEAA Code of Ethics to familiarise yourself with our duty of care.

  8. Use of drugs or alcohol before or during any online or in-person session is not permitted.

  9. Practice self-awareness around ways you participate — if it’s easy for you to step in and share, maybe pause and wait a moment; if you find it challenging to join in, practice having the courage to share.

  10. Impact and intention mismatch - at times our words and actions may impact others in ways which we may not intend. When another feels impacted by our words or actions, we agree to engage in the repair processes taught in this training with compassion and humility.

  11. Dual Roles. Some of us here might have different relationships with each other in other contexts, current or historical. Please share any dual roles that may influence our community here (whilst honouring privately agreed confidentiality).

  12. We regard the client's role as sacred ground for all aspects of the self to have permission to express and participate in and not to be evaluated. During this training, these experiences are confidential to the group of three that you shared in and it is your choice what you share with the group.

  13. Integration time. We encourage you to honour the roles, and responsibilities of each role, during class time and to maintain the time boundaries of these and not pursue the continuation of these roles during the breaks. This honours the breaks as integration time

  14. Olfactory community health. Please be mindful of your personal hygiene and use of perfumed toiletries and detergents as we are not in choice with what we are breathing in.  We use aromatic leaves like sage, sweet grass and essential oils eg Lavender and sweet orange for cleansing the air at times. Please share any sensitivities with any of these privately with a member of the team.

  15. We ask that you arrive a few minutes before the start of each session or inform a member of the teacher team if you are unable to attend.

  16. Bring an attitude of curiosity, kindness and radical acceptance. As adult learners, we are inhibited from learning new ways of being if we already “know”

  17. We can participate in many ways - This might look like inhabiting the invited roles, taking the role of witnessing, requesting and negotiating ways of adapting the activity to support your participation or simply being present in the space.

  18. Self-care and nervous system regulation — During our time together, please take care of your needs for sleep, rest, nourishment, and during class time, your needs for hydration & toilet, etc. If there is something specific you need please reach out to any of the teacher team.

  19. We invite you to practise attunement and kindness with yourself as you encounter your learning edges and limits. Sometimes we don’t know our limits until we are experiencing them and it can feel vulnerable to reach out. If you discover yourself experiencing overwhelm, feel into what you might need and give yourself permission to self-regulate in a way that supports you. If you need support, please reach out and remember the teaching team is here to support you.

  20. We invite agreement here that communication between each other is inclusive and kind.

If the teacher team is advised that a participant has not respected any of these agreements we will take action and discuss this with that participant.

If a participant continues to act outside of these agreements and is unwilling or unable to respect the course container then they will be required to leave the training and will not be offered any refund.

Co-creating our community together requires participation, contributing, being present with and supporting each other.

Somatic learning doesn’t happen by ourselves because our nervous systems are interconnected. So supporting each other supports our own growth and learning like the trees and mycelium networks support each other as part of a forest.

At the end of this training we encourage you to allow any tender new aspects of yourself to continue to be nurtured, nourished and supported. Honour your reflection and integration time until you feel ready to share with others, rather than satisfying other people’s curiosity.

Clarity: RHI Postgraduate Community — Agreements Supporting Certification to Practice

By participating in the RHI Postgraduate Community I commit to the following agreements that uphold professional integrity and support my certification to practice:

  1. Continued participation in the postgraduate community to support ongoing professional development.

  2. Engagement in individual professional supervision a minimum of four (4) times per year.

  3. Practice in alignment with the ACSB Code of Ethics and the relational ethics guidelines of the RHI.

  4. If a rupture occurs, or there is an intention/impact mismatch, commitment to enter a repair process under the guidance of an RHI-approved Supervisor or Coach.

  5. Understanding that if I become aware of a complaint or conduct that falls outside the Code of Ethics, my profile will be removed from the RHI website until the rupture has been satisfactorily repaired.

These agreements are made to protect clients, colleagues and the integrity of our profession, and to support ongoing growth and accountability within the RHI community.

Code of Ethics

clarity: The RHI follows the SSEAA Code of Ethics, which has two codes that apply to non-touch CSI and touch CSIB practices

The Institute for Relational Harmony (RHI) adheres to the SSEAA Code of Ethics, recognising and applying two distinct ethical codes appropriate to our scope of practice:

  • CSI — Non‑touch Somatic Intimacy Practices: This code governs all non‑contact modalities taught and practised within Year 1 (Certificate in Somatic Intimacy Coaching) and integrated across higher years when practitioners employ dialogue, guided interoceptive awareness, breathwork, movement, relational framing, and other non‑touch somatic interventions. Key obligations include informed consent specific to somatic and relational processes, clear boundaries about scope and limits of practice, confidentiality, culturally attuned, trauma‑informed care, and transparent referral pathways when issues fall outside the practitioner’s competence.

  • CSIB — Touch Somatic Intimacy Bodywork Practices: This code applies to touch‑based modalities taught in Year 2 (Certificate in Somatic Intimacy Bodywork Practitioner) and any supervised advanced practice involving somatic bodywork. It augments CSI with explicit standards for safe, ethical touch: documented, ongoing, and situation‑specific informed consent for touch; clear, negotiated boundaries; professional draping and positioning; risk assessment and contraindication screening; maintenance of physical safety and hygiene; vigilant attention to power dynamics and touch‑related transference; mandatory supervision and documentation; and protocols for responding to disclosures and adverse events.

RHI faculty and trainees are required to:

  • Distinguish clearly whether an interaction is governed by CSI (non‑touch) or CSIB (touch) standards.

  • Maintain competency through ongoing training, supervision, and adherence to both codes’ reporting and complaint procedures.

  • Uphold cultural humility, trauma‑informed practice, and anti‑discriminatory conduct in both CSI and CSIB contexts.

This dual‑code approach ensures ethical clarity and safety across the RHI curriculum and professional practice as embodied in our certificates and supervisory programs.

Good practice and ethical conduct

Clarity: As a student and practitioner, you will be required to agree to work within the code of ethics for your profession. We recommend that you join a professional body, such as the ACSB. Part of this agreement is to recognise the need for regular supervision and continuing professional development and learning, and to commit to undertaking regular self-reflection, supervision and CPD as well as ethical self-care. It is at the RHI's sole discretion to endorse the certificate for your training.

Recommended statement for programme documentation and enrolment agreements:

As a condition of participation and certification, all students and practising graduates must agree to adhere to a recognised professional code of ethics relevant to Somatic Intimacy, Relational Embodiment and Somatic Sexology. We strongly encourage membership of an appropriate professional association (for example, the SSEAA, Somatic Sex Educators Association of Australasia) to support professional standards and accountability.

You must acknowledge and commit to:

  • engaging in ongoing professional development (CPD) appropriate to your scope of practice;

  • undertaking regular supervision with a qualified supervisor to support clinical and ethical practice;

  • practising regular self-reflection and ethical self-care to maintain personal and professional integrity.

The Institute for Relational Harmony (RHI) reserves the sole discretion to endorse or withhold endorsement of certificates awarded for completion of training programmes. Endorsement may be contingent on demonstrated adherence to ethical standards, evidence of required CPD and supervision, and satisfactory professional conduct as determined by the Institute.

Suggested practical requirements for endorsement (examples to be adapted by programme administrators):

  • Minimum annual CPD hours (e.g., 30 hours) with at least a specified portion in ethics and somatic practice;

  • Regular supervision (e.g., monthly or equivalent) with documentation of sessions;

  • Annual reflective report documenting learning, self-care practices, and ethical decision-making;

  • Proof of membership in a recognised professional body or justification for non-membership.

These requirements are intended to support your development as a responsible, competent practitioner and to uphold the integrity of RHI-endorsed qualifications.

RHI Cancellation of Programs

RHI may postpone or cancel Programs if the Directors and Faculty cannot run them. Faculty plan for coverages so training can continue, but events like death, pandemics, war, natural disasters, or illness may force postponement or cancellation. If some Faculty remain online, they will meet with participants individually and in groups to find ways to support learning and certification. We aim to complete support during the final year of your current program, or, if not possible, the following year after creative problem-solving. You agree to cooperate in rescheduling if extreme events beyond the Faculty’s control disrupt the program.

Terms of Service

RHI Postponement

If the Program can’t run on the scheduled dates, it will be moved to the next available dates. You must be flexible and attend the new dates. If you can’t attend those, you may defer to another training within one year of the cancellation. Fees are non-refundable but will be applied to the deferred training if the Teacher team cancels. This is unlikely, as faculty can cover for one another.

Each faculty member can teach the curriculum in their own way. We do not favour one teaching style over another, and substitute teachers are equally acceptable when a scheduled teacher is unavailable.

Travel, Venue and Accommodation costs

You are responsible for covering your travel, venue, and Accommodation costs for in-person events. If an in-person component exists and this part of the training is postponed for any reason, the RHI is not responsible for refunding course or venue fees, or travel and accommodation costs.

Terms of Service

Illness and Non-attendance

If you are unable to fully attend any part of the program due to physical or mental illness or life circumstances with dependents, you will need to discuss the option of deferring to the next training with RHI.

  • You will need to start the next training at the beginning of that year's Cohort. You are given a 40% discount for the following year if you reapply within a year.

RHI Cancelling your Enrolment

RHI reserves the right to cancel your enrolment and participation in any Program at any time if, at the facilitators’ discretion, it is determined that you are unsuitable for the Program or that the Program is unsuitable for you. Causes for such a decision may include, but are not limited to:

  • Failure to complete agreed study and research requirements. The curriculum is sequential: research explorations build on one another. If you fall sufficiently behind, continued participation with your cohort will not be possible.

  • Non-payment of course fees when on a payment plan. If payments are not maintained, you will be removed from the training program until a new payment-plan agreement is reached.

  • Refusal to engage in the required 5-step repair process with a member of your Cohort or Teacher Team following a rupture. Participation in repair processes is a core requirement for certification; unwillingness to participate will result in a pause in your certification progress and may extend your training beyond its scheduled end date.

  • A breach of the ACSB code of ethics, where you do not engage in Supervision and Personal Therapy to restore ethical practice. Supervision of the certification process will cease if such matters are not addressed in a timely manner once acknowledged.

There are no refunds of course fees if the above issues are not rectified.

Container agreements & Terms of Service Form

It is our goal to create a learning environment that is inclusive and supports your participation in learning and exploring. We acknowledge the different walks of life we have all come from and how our past experiences influence our relationships and participation in groups.

We create our ground course container agreements to support everyone's participation, inviting curiosity when aspects, that are unique to each training, arise that may not have been included in our general course container agreements. We work from the understanding that relationship agreements are an ongoing process that requires updating to support each other’s harmonious participation.

The following are the course container agreements that we will all honour and respect during this training.

By checking and submitting the form you are agreeing to the Container Agreements and Terms of Service.
